EXEMPTIONS FROM TIME LIMIT
For Single Adults and Childless Couples

Some single adults and childless couples will be exempt from the new 24 month (2-year) welfare time limit. This means that they will be allowed to receive their full cash benefits beyond the 2-year cut-off date.

You may be exempt from the 2-year time-limit if you are:

*** You may be asked to prove your entitlement to an exemption from the time limits. It is important to obtain written documentation (from your physician or therapist, for example), which contains a diagnosis of your condition and a statement that you cannot work because of your condition.

*** If you fall into any of the above categories but are not found to be exempt from the time limits, ask for a FAIR HEARING immediately. See Fact Sheet No. 2 on Requesting A Fair Hearing for details.***
