POSTION OVERVIEW:

Work in collaboration with the staff of Bronx Community Solutions to identify and provide case management and counseling services to individuals arrested for prostitution who may be victims of domestic violence and sexual assault..

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist victims in obtaining a broad range of public benefits, medical care, counseling, housing, shelter and other economic empowerment and case management related services..
• Provide direct counseling services
• Provide community outreach and education related to the population and its needs.
• Co-facilitate a women’s empowerment support and education group.
• Meet with voluntary clients/victims pre/post arraignment.
• Assess clients for counseling and resource needs.
• Mobilize resources for victims of DV and sexual assault.
• Keep appropriate records.
• Report regularly to the court.
• Attend case conferences/meetings at Bronx Community Solutions and Sanctuary for Families.
• Utilize internal database systems to track direct services to clients.
• Utilize other online resources as necessary.
• Perform any other department or agency-related duties or special projects as directed by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Counseling/Human Services or related field required; Master Degree in Social Work, Psychology or Counseling preferred.
• Two years experience in the same or similar environment required.
• Familiar with issues of trauma, violence prevention and victimization. Trauma and/or violence prevention programs experience preferred.
• Familiarity in public benefits and housing systems is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in multitasking and organizational skills is helpful.
• Ability to collaborate with others and engage in teamwork is necessary.
