Supervising Attorney - Parole Program

About the Position: HLA seeks an attorney experienced in indigent defense to serve as Supervising Attorney of its Parole Program. The candidate hired for this position will lead HLA’s Parole Program, which consists of two staff attorneys, one social worker, and one law assistant, to ensure we provide high-quality representation to those facing revocation of their parole in Onondaga County, New York. The Supervising Attorney both handles parole revocation cases and oversees the other staff members in the Parole Program. The Supervising Attorney will report to the Managing Attorney of Criminal and Appeals Programs, and will also assist in the collection of data in accordance with the requirements of the New York State Office of Indigent Legal Services. This position offers a unique opportunity to serve in a leadership role at a collaborative, established non-profit office providing high-quality representation to people in need.

Qualifications: Admission to New York Bar, and at least three (3) years of experience in indigent defense. Strong written and oral advocacy skills. Demonstrated commitment to public-interest law and to indigent defense. Ability to multi-task. Diverse economic, social, and/or cultural experiences.

Salary Transparency: $71,307 to $98,657 annually, depending on candidate qualifications and experience.

Standard office hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday from Labor Day through Memorial Day, and 8:30 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
