Paralegal to be assigned to the Hempstead office, focusing on the legal needs of low-income veterans and others. This position involves litigation and administrative support, as well as informal advocacy on behalf of clients under the supervision of an attorney. Possible tasks include, but are not limited to: conducting intake interviews, gathering and organizing evidentiary materials, and preparation of pleadings and correspondence.
In addition, the position includes direct advocacy on client's behalf with agencies such as the Veteran's Administration, Department of Social Services, Social Security Administration, and various housing authorities. This could include accompanying clients to conferences with agency representatives, as well as less formal advocacy.

SALARY: $33,358 DOE
REQUIREMENTS: Completion of a professional paralegal's training program is preferred. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English will be viewed favorably.
