STAFF ATTORNEY: To represent people living with disabilities,
primarily but not exclusively residents of adult homes in both Nassau and
Suffolk counties, in a wide variety of civil legal matters. Primary duties will include legal
representation in disputes between adult home residents and the adult home
administrators. Additionally, the attorney will provide representation and
advice in matters before the Department of Social Services, Social Security
Administration and Surrogate's Court, both informally and in administrative
hearings. The position also calls for
regular participation in community education through formal presentations,
on-site meetings, and telephone consultations. The attorney will also be
expected to participate in data maintenance are reporting requirements,
including regular narrative reports.
START DATE: Immediate
SALARY: $52,458 DOE
REQUIREMENTS: Admission to the
New York State Bar. Applicants who have
passed the Bar Examination and are pending admission will be considered.
