The Mental Health Association of
Erie County is seeking a passionate, full-time, attorney who is looking to make
a difference in the community. This opening is within our Legal Services &
Advocacy department. The MHA of
Erie County treasures, respects and seeks to preserve the integrity of all
those we serve. Our daily practice is to honor our commitment to support mental
health and help those living with mental illness. We model this belief in our
conduct as professionals; how we represent the Mental Health Association and
through our compassion for each other in the workplace.
Responsibilities/Duties
Attorneys at the MHA have
individual caseloads, representing clients in a variety of areas including,
Social Security Disability/Supplemental Security Income, Housing, Family,
Matrimonial, Consumer, among others.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor Degree
-Excellent oral and written
communications skills
-Ability to assist with mental
health consumers and the general public in a respectful manner
-Thorough knowledge of legal
research
-Must be a member, in good standing,
of the New York State Bar OR be eligible to become a member within a reasonable
time after beginning employment. The ability to maintain such standing
throughout employment with the MHA is required.
