PREVENTION PARALEGAL

Empire
Justice Center, a highly respected, statewide nonprofit law firm, is seeking a Foreclosure
Prevention Paralegal to join our team.

The Position:
The position will be
part of the Foreclosure Prevention Unit. The focus of the position will be to
serve low-income homeowners who are unable to meet current mortgage obligations
and to provide support for the Unit as a paralegal.
Primary responsibilities
will include:
- Conduct in-depth client and preliminary intake interviews;
- Analyze household/client budgets;
- Perform internet research and data collection;
- Manage and organize physical files for clients;
- Assist with grant reporting and tracking;
- Manage the collection and submission of loss mitigation
applications;
- Manage high volumes of information from multiple outside agencies
and clients;
- Provide support for foreclosure prevention staff on litigation
and policy projects; and,
- Respond to calls from clients and outside agencies in an
efficient and timely manner.
Qualifications:
- A strong desire to aid low-income homeowners in advocating for
the retention of their homes;
- Solid oral, written, organizational, administrative and computer
skills;
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team;
- Strong Microsoft Office skills;
- Experience with community-based organizations and client outreach
a plus;
- Associates Degree or paralegal certificate, or minimum 2 years of
relevant experience; and,
- Ability to speak and understand Spanish is desired but not
required.
Salary and Benefits:
Salary is
commensurate with experience and based on the organization's salary scale.
