Resources Manager
Reports to Executive Director
JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
The
human resource manager is directly responsible for the overall administration,
coordination and evaluation of the human resource function including supporting
initiatives, systems, and best practices to recruit, develop, and train a
diverse and high-performing workforce. The HR Manager will help build an
organizational culture that supports advancement of Legal Aid's mission and
strategic plans.
Essential
Functions
Reasonable

1. Develops and
administers various human resources plan and procedures for all company
personnel.
2. Plans, organizes and
controls all activities of the department. Participates in developing
department goals, objectives and systems.
3. Implements and
annually updates the compensation program; rewrites job descriptions as
necessary; conducts annual salary surveys, analyzes compensation; monitors the
performance evaluation program and revises as necessary.
4. Evaluate and update
complete benefits plan; manage and run a bi-weekly payroll; serve as the staff
lead for all 403(b) administration responsibilities
5. Recommends, helps
develop and implements personnel policies and procedures; prepares and
maintains policies and procedures to implement the CBA and other personnel
policies; performs benefits administration to include claims resolution, change
reporting, approving invoices for payment, annual re-evaluation of policies for
cost-effectiveness, information activities program and cash flow.
6. Develops and
maintains affirmative action program; files EEO-1 annually; maintains other
records, reports and logs to conform to EEO regulations, staffs AA/EEO Committee.
7. Conducts recruitment
effort for all exempt, nonexempt and temporary workers; writes and places
advertisements; works with supervisors to screen and interview candidates;
conducts reference checking; extends job offers; conducts new-employee
orientations; monitors career-path program and employee relations counseling;
conducts exit interviews.
8. Establishes and
maintains department records and reports. Participates in Executive Management
Team (EMT) and staff meetings and attends other meetings, such as seminars.
Maintains organizational charts and employee directory.
9. Evaluates reports,
decisions and results of department initiatives in relation to established
goals. Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual
improvement in efficiency of department and services performed.
10. Ensures compliance
with all federal, state and local employment laws.

job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses
standard office equipment.

performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to
stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or
controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee
must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
Position
Type/Expected Hours of Work
This
is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9
a.m. to 5 p.m, and weekend or evening work as needed. . This position regularly
requires long hours.
Travel
Travel
is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and
overnight travel may be expected to visit our other offices.
Required
Education and Experience
A
bachelor's degree and two to five years of human resource experience.
Preferred
Education and Experience

1. A master's degree in
human resource management.
2. Ability to speak
Spanish
3. SHRM Certified
Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP)
credential.

Salary and Benefits
